Testing Services Schedule


The ACCUPLACER assessment measures math, reading and writing abilities. The ACCUPLACER test determines whether students need to take developmental courses. First time college students must score a 55 or higher on the ACCUPLACER reading test to be admitted to Pulaski Technical College.

You will be required to take the ACCUPLACER before being admitted to PTC if:

  • You have never attended college and have not taken the ACT or ACCUPLACER.
  • You did not score a 13 or above on the Reading section of the ACT or a 55 or above on the Reading section of the ACCUPLACER.
  • It has been 5 years or longer since you have taken the ACT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER, and you have not successfully completed reading, writing, or math coursework.
  • If you have attended college but have not successfully completed Composition I or College Algebra, you will be required to take the ACCUPLACER for placement purposes


There is a $20 non-refundable fee to take all sections of the ACCUPLACER (reading, writing, and math). There is a $10 non-refundable fee to take only one (1) section of the ACCUPLACER. When making payment, please have the exact amount on hand and during after business hours. Test proctors do not have cash. Testers are also required to know their social security number or provide their social security card.

ACCUPLACER Preparation Materials

You can utilize our ACCUPLACER preparation materials to get ready for the test. We encourage all students utilize these resources. The ACCUPLACER determines placement into Reading, Writing, and Mathematics courses. Preparing for this test can save a student time and money.


The KAPLAN (Nursing Entrance Test) is required for admission to the Practical Nursing program at Pulaski Technical College. The KAPLAN is given and may only be taken twice (2 times) from mid-January until Mid-April. The KAPLAN is given the first Saturday of each month. The KAPLAN is a timed test and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. The KAPLAN test is $50.

Foreign Language Placement Exams (SCAPE)

The Spanish Computer Adaptive Placement Exam (SCAPE) measures Spanish skills to place students in Spanish courses. Students do not earn credits by taking the SCAPE but can be placed in Spanish courses without taking prerequisite Spanish courses based on their score. There is no fee for this test. SCAPE usually takes 10 to 30 minutes to complete.

The SCAPE Test can be taken at Main Campus, Campus Center Building, room 240 during the following times:

  • Tuesday - 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday - 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Typing Test

The Typing Placement Exam measures current skill level in keyboarding to place students in the correct Keyboarding course. Students do not earn credits by taking the Typing Test but can be placed into keyboarding courses without taking prerequisite keyboarding courses based on their scores. There is no fee for the typing test. The typing test usually takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

The Typing Test can be taken at Main Campus, Campus Center Building, room 240 during the following times:

  • Tuesday - 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday - 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Proctored Exams for non-PTC Students

Students not currently enrolled at Pulaski Technical College can take proctored online or pencil and paper exams at the PTC Testing Center. Colleges will be assessed a $35 fee per proctored exam. Proctored exams can be scheduled by contacting the Testing Center at TestingCenter@pulaskitech.edu or calling (501) 812-2787.

Credit by Examination

Credit by examination evaluation for CLEP, AP, DANTES, or certification and licensures, etc is available under the college’s Prior Learning Assessment policy. Click the button below for more information.

Testing Center Information

The Pulaski Technical College Testing Center is located at Main Campus in North Little Rock, Campus Center building, room 240. Please note:

  • Students must sign in for “Testing Services” on the hallway computers outside of room 240 to take any test.
  • Students must present a valid photo ID before taking any test.
  • Fees for tests must be paid at the Cashier’s Office prior to testing. There are no refunds for testing fees.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the Testing Center.
  • All electronics, including cell phones, calculators or other devices must be turned OFF.
  • Children are not allowed in the Testing Center and may not be left unattended on campus.
  • Students who require disability accommodations when testing should contact Disability Services at least one week before they plan to test.
  • The Testing Proctor reserves the right to dismiss any student who is disruptive during testing.
