Juanita Williams of Sylvania, director of children services at Pulaski Technical College, has been appointed to the Child Care Appeal Review Panel of the Arkansas Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
The Child Care Appeal Review Panel, an 11-member group, serves as a review and appeal body regarding licensure and registration actions related to child-care centers and child-care family homes. Williams will serve a three-year term on the panel, which meets monthly in Little Rock.
In her role as director of children services at Pulaski Tech, Williams serves as administrator of the Children First Child Development Center located on the Eugene J. Towbin Healthcare Center campus on Fort Roots Drive. The center, a unique partnership between Pulaski Tech and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, provides child-care services for the employees and students of Pulaski Tech and the medical center, as well as the general public.
"I am looking forward to working with the panel members in supporting safe and healthy environments for our child-care centers across the state of Arkansas," Williams said.
In addition to her position with the college, Williams serves as a court appointed special advocate in Lonoke County, where she works with abused and neglected children and prepares recommendations to the court regarding placement. She also works part time for the Council for Professional Recognition of Washington, DC, testing daycare employees across the state.
Williams is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and received a bachelor of arts in organizational management from John Brown University. Additionally, she holds associate of arts degrees from Arkansas State University and Capital City Junior College and is currently working on a master's degree in business administration at Arkansas State University.
A 1988 graduate of Cabot High School, Williams and her husband of 14 years, Michael, are the parents of Rainey, 13, Britain, 10, and Canyon, 17 months.
