Pulaski Technical College Foundation will present Diamond Chef Arkansas June 2, as two of Arkansas' finest culinarians will turn up the heat and compete at the Wally Allen Ballroom at the Statehouse Convention Center. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the program, dinner and competition begin at 7:30. Reigning Diamond Chef Donnie Ferneau, executive chef of Ferneau restaurant, will compete against challenger Michael Powell, executive chef at the Chenal Country Club.
The contest will follow the format of the popular Iron Chef television series. Each chef and his sous-chef will have 60 minutes to prepare three dishes, one of which will utilize a surprise ingredient to be announced just before the competition begins. Chefs will be judged on plate presentations, creativity and taste.
Tickets cost $125 per person with proceeds benefiting the Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary School.
Contributions are a tax deductible charitable contribution to the Pulaski Technical College Foundation, Inc. Funds raised from the event will enable the Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary School to expand its facilities. Programs at the Arkansas Culinary School are at capacity, and expansion is necessary to accommodate the high demand for instructional space.
