The Pulaski Technical College Foundation raised more than $25,000 in scholarship funds Thursday night at the 3rd annual Business of Art.
More than 200 people attended the event in the Campus Center Grand Hall, where they enjoyed food prepared by the Arkansas Culinary School, music by MarQuis Hunt, and art demonstrations by local artists.
More than 80 items were sold during the silent auction, which included cartoon strips and a painting donated by event honoree John Deering, a professional sculptor, painter and longtime cartoonist at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Deering also gave a short talk on cartooning while drawing a picture of Dr. Dan F. Bakke, college president.
Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for Pulaski Tech students pursuing degrees in fine arts or business. A total of seven scholarships have been awarded since the Business of Art began.
