Pulaski Tech ranks 7th on list of state's largest colleges8/18/2003
Pulaski Technical College students, faculty and staff have reason to celebrate.
Pulaski Tech jumped from number eight to "lucky number seven" on Arkansas Business magazine's list of largest colleges and universities in Arkansas, surpassing Harding University in credit headcount enrollment. Pulaski Tech already ranked largest among the state's two-year colleges and seventh largest among the state's public institutions.
The annual list, published in the Aug. 11 issue, showed Pulaski Tech with an enrollment of 5,348 students in fall 2002--a 7.69 percent increase from the fall 2001 semester. Harding University had an enrollment of 5,276.
Others rounding out the list were (6) Arkansas Tech University, 5,855; (5) University of Arkansas Fort Smith, 6,154; (4) University of Central Arkansas, 8,553; (3) Arkansas State University, 10,435; (2) University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 11,491; and (1) University of Arkansas, 15,995.
Last spring, enrollment at Pulaski Tech reached 5,727. Pulaski Tech is expected to enroll more than 6,100 students this fall.
