The Pulaski Technical College Board of Trustees has approved a $4 per semester credit hour tuition increase for
In-state tuition will increase from $68 per credit hour to $72 per hour. Out-of-state tuition will increase from $112 to $119 per hour. International student tuition will increase from $225 to $238 per hour.
Dr. Dan F. Bakke, president, said Pulaski Tech is committed to keeping its tuition affordable and the college accessible.
"Our tuition rate remains significantly lower than tuition rates at four-year universities in the state. Plus, we're a local two-year college so students save housing and transportation costs."
Based on the college's 2005-06 enrollment, the new tuition rate would generate approximately $684,960 in additional funds for the college.
"At this point, raising tuition is not optional for us," Bakke said. "It is necessary in order to keep our doors open. Basically, the increase keeps us in line with the rate of inflation."
With an unofficial enrollment 8,302 for spring 2006,
In addition to increasing tuition, the board approved a technology/facility use fee increase from $7 to $8 per semester credit hour. Additionally, the board approved a student support services fee of $5 per student per semester.
