Ever wanted to learn how to cook like a French chef? Or how to decorate a fancy cake? Now's your chance.
Pulaski Technical College's Community Education Program is offering a culinary series this summer through the college's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.
Chef Philippe Ducrot will lead a series of classes that teach the basics of making French sauces, soufflés, appetizers and soups.
Jan Lewandowski, the college's baking instructor, will teach Cakes and Icings 101, as well as cake decorating and creating fondant-covered tiered cakes.
There are classes just for kids, too. Lewandowski will also teach a fondant cake class for kids ages 9 and up. The child will learn to color and roll out fondant, cover a cake, and make a character face. Teens age 13-17 can participate in Teen Culture Shock, a one-day course which teens will create and sample international favorite cuisines from Asia, Italy, Greece, Germany, and Mexico - and learn a little bit about each country along the way. Chef Cindy Malik, the culinary school's lead instructor, will teach teens how to make sushi, bruschetta, dolmas, sauerkraut, potato fritters and empanadas
