College supports Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in central Arkansas
The college contributed thousands of bottles of water to shelters assisting evacuees in southwest Little Rock and North Little Rock.
The Student Services Division assembled boxes of personal hygiene products for distribution to evacuees at the State Fairgrounds shelter in Little Rock.
Pulaski Tech has volunteered to participate in a program to provide online instruction to students affected by the hurricane.
Information Technology Division faculty members are offering their technical expertise and assistance at various shelters throughout central Arkansas.
The Pulaski Tech Saline County Career Center at Bauxite is offering free cosmetology services to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The Dental Assisting program assembled oral hygiene kits for distribution to evacuees at shelters in North Little Rock.
The outpouring of love and support from Pulaski Technical College faculty, staff and students for the victims of Hurricane Katrina has been inspirational, Carol Langston, vice president for college advancement, said this week.
Following is a partial list of Pulaski Technical College's efforts to assist those affected by the hurricane:
- Students from affected areas seeking fall enrollment at Pulaski Tech can contact the admissions office at (501) 812-2231 and will be extended assistance on a case-by-case basis.
- The Pulaski Technical College Student Government Association and Student Ambassadors conducted a donations drive and collected funds for the American Red Cross Sept. 8-9 on the college's main campus in North Little Rock and at the Little Rock location.
- Working through their churches and social services agencies, numerous faculty and staff are providing volunteer assistance at various shelters throughout the central Arkansas region (Benton, Bryant, southwest Little Rock, North Little Rock, west Little Rock, Jacksonville, etc...).
- The staff of the Saline County Adult Education Center at Benton is collecting funds for the American Red Cross and appeared on the Bob Robbins show on KSSN to discuss their fundraising efforts.
