Pulaski Technical College moved up two places from last year to rank fifth in the list of Arkansas' largest colleges and universities published in the Aug. 8 issue of Arkansas Business.
According to the weekly business journal, Pulaski Tech experienced a 17.41 percent increase in enrollment from the fall 2003 enrollment of 6,128 to the fall 2004 enrollment of 7,222. Last year, the college ranked seventh on the list.
The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville ranked first on the list, with a fall 2004 enrollment of 17,269 graduate and undergraduate students. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock ranked second with an enrollment of 11,806.
Arkansas State University ranked third on the list with an enrollment of 10,508. The University of Central Arkansas was a close fourth at 10,060.
Other four-year colleges rounding out the top 10 included the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (sixth place) with an enrollment of 6,631, Arkansas Tech University (seventh place) with an enrollment of 6,483 and Harding University (eighth place) with an enrollment of 5,602.
Two-year colleges ranking in the top ten included NorthWest Arkansas Community College at Bentonville (ninth place) with an enrollment of 5,266 and Arkansas State University at Beebe (10th place) with an enrollment of 3,851.
