Pulaski Tech is offering a new course this spring for veterans only. COLL 1300, College Seminar: Pathways (Veterans Upward Bound), incorporates Pulaski Technical College's textbook, The First-Generation College Experience by English Instructor Amy Baldwin, as well as a Boots to Books curriculum.
The Boots to Books curriculum is designed to help deployed, post-deployed and veteran students make a positive transition from military to civilian life. It equips them with interpersonal skills and coping skills to deal with stress, anger, and conflict and learn early detection of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The course is designed to help students succeed in academics, work, family and other social settings.
Constance H. Hurd, Veterans Upward Bound academic coordinator, will be teaching the class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
