The Dental Assisting program at Pulaski Technical College is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Education. The nine-month certificate program begins each August and ends the following May.
After graduation, students may apply for registration to become a Registered Dental Assistant and may sit for the Dental Assisting National Board Examination. Students participate in classroom instruction at Pulaski Technical College and clinical experiences in area dental facilities. Specific course requirements may be found in the Pulaski Technical College catalog.
Dental assistants are an important part of the dental health care team and increase the efficiency of the dentist in delivery of oral health care. Most dentists will employ two or three dental assistants and, as a result, dental assistants are in high demand both in a full-time and a part-time capacity.
Program applicants must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or have earned a GED. Students will be chosen for the program based on criteria determined by Pulaski Technical College. Applicants who are not accepted in the program may reapply the following year by submitting a new application to the program.
This program of study includes special program fees beyond current tuition and college fees.
