The dental assisting program is one of two programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and is recognized by the State Board of Dental Examiners.
There are two options for dental assisting. A Technical Certificate that includes all of the dental assisting courses and speech. A student can continue on and take 19 general education courses and achieve an AAS in Allied Health. The Technical Certificate is required to complete the AAS degree.
The dental assisting program is only offered during the day time, no
night classes are available. Since the program is very rigorous, with
student enrolled in 25 hours, the class times are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 3
p.m. in the fall. Those students that have taken Speech, and received “C” or
better, will be allowed to leave on Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. while
those who have not taken speech will go to speech from 1:40-3 p.m.
An interested dental assisting student must complete the application process for the college. Once that application is completed separate application must be completed for the DA program.
Items needed for admission:
To be considered for the dental assisting class, students must be college ready and all remediation must be completed. Once all documents are received and remediation completed, if necessary, the application is complete and the student is either placed into the class or on the alternate list.
There is no application deadline for dental assisting. Applications for the fall classes end on August 15. Applications submitted on or after August 16 will be for the following year.
This program of study includes special program fees beyond current tuition and college fees.
