Welcome to the Developmental Writing Department Homepage!

The Department of Developmental Writing at Pulaski Technical College serves students who need or desire to polish their grammar and writing skills for everyday, workplace, and/or academic use.  We emphasize writing as an ongoing process so that students realize with time, patience, and effort, good writing is within their reach.  Our faculty also stress that learning to write and speak English well will give students the freedom to express themselves and to communicate effectively with all members of society.

Our department currently offers two different levels of writing classes: English Skills focuses on basic grammatical principles as well as sentence and paragraph construction, and Composition Fundamentals concentrates on composing essays and longer pieces of writing as well as avoiding common writing problems. Taking either developmental writing course or, better yet, completing both courses in the developmental writing program at Pulaski Tech significantly increases a student’s chances for success in all other college courses wherein writing is required..
