|Job Description: ||Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the state's largest two year college is accepting applications for a Director of Counseling and Disability Services. This position provides administrative oversight and supervision for all aspects of the disability services office, including planning, analyzing and developing effective policies, procedures and methods of service provision. Manages daily operations, general office coverage, record maintenance and tracking systems and provides reports as requested. Ensures departmental and institutional compliance with appropriate legal mandates and relevant policies/procedures. Conducts ADA & Section 504 training and workshops for faculty and staff.Performs intake interviews with students with disabilities; identifies reasonable accommodation; facilitates connections with appropriate support services and recommends appropriate accommodation(s). Oversees production and distribution of letters of accommodation at the beginning of each term. Consults with faculty, staff, parents, and other stakeholders about the developmental, career, support, and mental health needs of students with disabilities. Develops and conducts training for faculty and administration regarding appropriate accommodation in the classroom. Procures and maintains adaptive equipment. Oversees the provision of test accommodation and proctoring for students with disabilities. Manages and monitors annual budgets and develops annual proposals for ongoing and one-time funding processes. Supervises and provides oversight to the provision of counseling to students experiencing developmental difficulties, mental health concerns, relational issues, academic challenges, or behavior problems, including crisis intervention. Develops and deliver educational programming regarding alcohol use reduction, healthy relationships/consensual sexual contact, and the prevention of sexual violence. May also provide programming on other related personal and community wellness topics (e.g. stress management, body image issues).
Coordinates referrals to off campus mental health providers as needed. Provide consultation, education and guidance to faculty, staff, students, and families regarding students of concern. Serves on the campus Behavioral Intervention Team. Provides leadership to the expansion of mental health awareness on campus via marketing campaigns, programming, and outreach to faculty, staff, and students. Participates in continuing education to further professional development. Stay abreast of current issues in mental health and best practices in college counseling and disability services.
|Minimum Requirements: ||Master's degree in, Counseling, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Higher Education or related field plus two years of related experience.|
|Preferred Qualifications: ||*Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting, reviewing disability-related documentation and determining accommodations, and a demonstrated understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as it relates to higher education.
*Extensive knowledge of, and good judgment in, the application of complex principles of human behavior and student development theories.
*Ability to provide clinical assessments of danger to self or others, and to make treatment decisions on the basis of such assessments.
*Ability to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
*Knowledge of legal, ethical, and policy issues in college mental health, and the ability to educate other professionals about those issues.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills.
