Miss Arkansas to speak at MLK observance Jan. 26

Pulaski Technical College's Cultural Diversity Committee will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance and Black History Month Kick-off on Wednesday, Jan. 26.

The program will take place 12- 1 p.m. in the Campus Center foyer. DuShun Scarbrough, executive director of the Arkansas Martin Luther King Commission, will be the guest speaker. In addition, Rev. Cecil Gibson will once again perform Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

Miss Arkansas 2010, Alyse Eady, first runner-up to Miss America in the 2011 Miss America Pageant on Jan. 15, has been added to the program. She will reflect upon the meaning of black history from her perspective and will give a brief synopsis of her experience in the recent Miss America pageant. She will also sign autographs.

Other activities will be taking place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Campus Center foyer, including the repeated showing of a 20-minute documentary about the assassination of Dr. King.
