$600K grant announced for PTC library expansion

U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Vic Snyder announced July 23 that Pulaski Technical College will receive a $600,000 U.S. Department of Education grant to expand library resources at both the main campus in North Little Rock and at its Little Rock-South site. The funds will enable the library to purchase books, databases and technology, and will also support professional development for librarians.

"This funding will give students at Pulaski Technical College greater access to the resources and tools they need to do research and excel in their classes," Lincoln said. "I am committed to securing investments in Arkansas's colleges and universities that will ensure our graduates are prepared to contribute to our state's economy as productive members of the workforce."

"Libraries are a vital resource for students, serving as the information hub for many campuses. These federal dollars will help ensure that Pulaski Technical College's library has up-to-date technology, knowledgeable staff, and essential books so that students can receive a quality education," Pryor said.

"As a state senator in 1991, I voted for transforming our two year college system. Pulaski Tech is a phenomenal example of how well these colleges have done. These funds are going to a great institution," Snyder said.

"Pulaski Technical College is pleased to be awarded grant funding in support of library resources for our students. This grant is a significant investment in our library and will improve access to educational technology for thousands of students in central Arkansas," said Pulaski Technical College President Dan F. Bakke.
