Saline County Adult Education Center celebrates 2010 graduation ceremony

Pulaski Technical College's Saline County Adult Education Center celebrated its 2010 graduation ceremony Friday at the college's Little Rock-South location. Photos from the event can be viewed here.


More than 140 students completed their General Educational Development (GED) certificates at the center this year, and approximately 35 returned to walk in the graduation ceremony. More than 250 family members, friends and dignitaries were in attendance. Yvonne Dougherty, director, served as master of ceremonies.


During a touching ceremony, the students presented roses to family members, friends and faculty members in recognition of their support and encouragement. Dr. Dan F. Bakke, college president, and Mary Ann Shope, vice president for economic development, offered words of inspiration and encouragement to the group.


Additionally, instructor Wendie Reaves and her husband Lt. Col. Wade Reaves, who recently returned from deployment in Iraq, received a special gift package presented by Joyce Taylor of the Pulaski Technical College Foundation.


Dignitaries in attendance included state Rep. Barbara Nix, state Rep. Dawn Creekmore, Dr. Charles Carter with the Pulaski County Special School District and Lt. Col. Reaves, who led the Pledge of Allegiance.


Rebecca Ballard, Patricia Harley and Janice Housley are full-time instructors at the center. Part-time employees as of spring 2010 are Kittty Barton, Raymond Barton, Laura Collins, Tim Hall, Joann Jones, Patricia Laster, Wendie Reaves, Carol Tabor and Lana Tollett.
