Banned Books Week is Sept. 28-Oct. 2

The Pulaski Technical College Libraries Committee and the Division of Fine Arts and Humanities are proud to offer Pulaski Tech students, faculty and staff a week of lectures, panel discussions and readings in support of Banned Books Week.
Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read banned or challenged books. Its purpose is to raise awareness about material that has been banned or challenged in a variety of settings and to discuss issues relating to intellectual freedom.  All events are free and open to the public.
Tuesday, Sept. 29
"A Legacy: Southern Literature and Domestic Violence," 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - Grand Hall A in the Campus Center (main campus). A panel of domestic violence experts will discuss the reality of domestic violence in our families and communities and Pulaski Tech instructors will read excerpts from banned or challenged books. 
Panelists: Pulaski County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Laurie Kumpuris, NLR Police Officer Karl Sorrells and others.

Banned Books Week events, including discussions, readings and games, 9:25 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Little Rock-South Community Room
"Political Cartoons and Censorship" with John Deering, 7 p.m., R.J. Wills Lecture Hall, Campus Center (main campus). An exciting discussion of censorship issues within the political cartoon world with John Deering, chief political cartoonist and illustrator at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Friday, Oct. 2
Banned Books Week events, including discussions, readings and games, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Little Rock-South Community Room
Pulaski Tech creative writing students read, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Private Dining Room, Campus Center (main campus). Join Pulaski Tech's creative writing students as they read from some of their most recent works.
