Staff, faculty and students are invited to attend the Health Challenge celebration on Wednesday, April 29. It will kick off with an 11 a.m. one-mile fun walk/run beginning behind the Campus Center and going along the new route around the Pulaski Technical College campus. You can view the route and other health information at http://www.pulaskitech.edu/health_challenge.
Blair Dean, professor at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and commissioner for the Governor's Council on Fitness, will lead the walk/run. The first 100 finishers will earn a complimentary pedometer.
Walkers and runners will complete the route at the Campus Center, where they can join other faculty, staff and students in participating in Health Challenge activities, including the health kiosks, health surveys and an alcohol education game. Students who complete the health challenge post-survey and have their health vitals measured will earn a Health Challenge T-shirt.
A complimentary lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. To register for lunch, email Melissa Hendricks at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Melissa at 812-2752. Joe Thompson, M.D., Director of the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement and Surgeon General for the State of Arkansas, will address students, faculty and staff during the lunch. Lunch participants will have the chance to win health and fitness-related door prizes as well.
"We appreciate the campus support for the health initiative and trust that we'll have a great turnout for the end-of-year celebration," Donna McSpadden, Counselor and Health Challenge leader, said.
