Domestic violence education program planned

Pulaski Tech will host The Clothesline Project beginning today to raise awareness of domestic violence against women and children.

Dozens of tee-shirts will be on display from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today in the Campus Center on the college's main campus. The Clothesline will be Little Rock-South on Tuesday and at Little Rock-West on Wednesday. Tee-shirts and craft supplies will be available for faculty, staff and students to design a shirt in honor of someone they know who has been affected by domestic violence.

Also on the Main Campus, information booths will be set up in the Campus Center foyer where various agencies and shelters will provide information and resources related to domestic violence issues. A series of 30-minute Lunch n' Learns will be presented in the Food Court at the following times by the following agencies:

11 a.m.  What is Domestic Violence? - Family Service Agency
11:30 a.m. Dating Violence and Rape - Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence
12 p.m.  Children and Domestic Violence - Safe Places
12:30 p.m. Legal Issues:  Laws, Restraining Orders, Prosecutions - Office of the Prosecutor
1 p.m. Healthy Relationships - Women & Children First

The purpose of the Clothesline Project is to bear witness to the survivors and victims of domestic violence, to help with the healing process, to educate and raise awareness of domestic violence, and to provide a network or support and information. It's sponsored by the Division of Fine Arts and Humanities.
