Constitution Day observance well received

Pulaski Technical College joined organizations from across the country in observing Constitution Day on Wednesday.

The observance commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and honors and celebrates the privileges and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship.

Activities took place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Campus Center on the Main campus and in the student services areas at Little Rock-West and Little Rock-South.

A voter registration drive was staffed by the Pulaski County Clerk's Office and a booklet, "Voting 101" was provided by the Arkansas Secretary of State's Office. Copies of the U.S. constitution were also distributed. Over 100 people registered to vote.

A multimedia presentation "The Electoral College" presentation prepared by PTC history instructor Andre Robinson, was shown on Campus Center monitors Wednesday. To see it now, click HERE.

More than 350 students, faculty and staff also participated in a mock presidential election. The Obama / Biden ticket won the mock election with 248 votes, or 69.8 percent of the votes cast. The McCain / Palin ticket received 88 votes; 24.7 percent of the ballots cast. Other candidates received 19 votes, or 5.3 percent. 6 votes were declared invalid.
