Monica Mebert of Jacksonville made a winning catch during Pulaski Tech Night at the Arkansas Travelers game on June 27.
Mebert entered her name in a drawing at the Pulaski Tech booth that was positioned at the main gate during Pulaski Tech Night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
The game pitted the Travelers again the RockHounds from Midland, Texas. The Travelers lost, but Mebert scored big when Pulaski Technical College vice president for instruction Purnell Henderson drew Mebert's name after the sixth inning.
The one-semester scholarship covers full tuition and fees and is renewable as long as Mebert maintains full-time enrollment status and a minimum grade-point average of 3.25.
In addition to sponsoring the scholarship drawing and information booths, the college was highlighted in the evening's opening ceremonies, with Tim Jones, director of public relations and marketing, throwing the first pitch of the game. The first 2,000 adults received a replica of the Travs' batting practice jersey adorned with the Pulaski Tech logo on the sleeve.
