PTC to host model car championship3/31/2008
Hundreds of model cars, planes, boats and other vehicles will be on display Saturday at
Pulaski Technical College during the Arkansas Model Car Championship, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Campus Center Grand Hall.
The event is free to the public.
The competition, sponsored in part by O'Reilly Auto Parts, will include more than 30 classes of aircraft, military and automotive models, with awards presented to the top three winners in each category. The automotive class includes Best Paint, Best Chevy, Best Ford, Best Dodge, Best Foreign, Best Detail and a Junior Best of Show.
Twelve special awards also will be awarded, including Best of Show, People's Choice and Participant's Choice. The model entry fee is $5 for the first model and $2 for additional entries.
The first 150 children (ages 6-13) will receive a free Revell model to make and take home.
