PTC Celebrates Halloween
11/2/2006
Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Faculty & Staff Pumpkin Decorating contest and Door Decoration Contest a success.
All of this year's 13 pumpkin entries were creative - some were cute, and some were creepy.
The grand prize winner was the Math, Science and Social Sciences department for "Albert Pumpkinstein," a pumpkin creation that bore a striking resemblance to well, Albert Einstein. They win the pizza party. (But they don't know they're getting a Pumpkin Pizza).
Allied Health and Human Services went all out with two entries. The nursing programs' Sick Pumpkin came complete with an autopsy pan and an official diagnosis: missing brain due to carving. If that wasn't scary enough, the dental assisting program displayed a toothless pumpkin with a not-so-subtle warning to brush your teeth.
Congratulation to all of this year's participants:
Best Overall: "Albert Pumpkinstein" by Math, Science and Social Sciences. Best Departmental Theme: "Sick Pumpkin" by Allied Health and Human Services Best in Show: "Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun" by Carol Langston, vice president for college advancement: (Also voted Best Hair and Make-up) Best Use of Paint: TRiO Scholars Best School Spirit: "Spirit Pumpkin" by Pulaski Technical College Foundation. Best Carving: Computer Information Systems Best Technical: Business Division Cutest Pumpkin: "Happy the Pumpkin" by the Little Learners Academy Preschool Class. Best Education Theme: Career Pathways Most Original: "Mama Pumpkin" by Allied Health and Human Services Sponsor: "It's All Good" by Office of Public Relations and Marketing
In the Door Decoration Contest, the office of Counseling and Advising Services took top honors for their extravagant phone-shaped pumpkin carved by Talisa Winchester.
The Business Office placed second with a door adorned with epitaphs of ghostly characters, such as Bill M. Later, Berry D. Hatchet, Will B. Back, and Mummy B. Ware.
The Pulaski Technical College Foundation, TRiO, Open Lab (IT303), CIS room 306, Allied Health Faculty and staff room, the Business Division and the PR and Marketing office also participated.
Some unusual characters were seen traipsing about campus Tuesday in their Halloween finery: witches and wizards, kitty cats and bunnies, Captain Kirk and the Grim Reaper. There was even a flesh-eating Greek. Thanks to all the students, faculty and staff who donned costumes to liven up the day.
