Laissez les bon temps rouler
Let the good times roll! Students, faculty and staff donned their flashiest party wear, silliest masks and craziest beads to participate in the first ever Pulaski Technical College Mardi Gras parade Tuesday, Feb. 28, on the main campus in North Little Rock.
Moses Thomas, computer support specialist in the Office of Computing Services, was crowned Mardi Gras king. Members of the Student Government Association, Student Ambassadors, Pulaski Tech Chapter of the Arkansas Association of Women in Two-Year Colleges, Career Pathways and TRiO Scholars program had entries in the parade. Lennon Parker, Web communication specialist, made a special appearance as King Twinkie in the official parade float designed by Amy Bonds.
A Mardi Gras party followed the parade in the student center. Students, faculty and staff enjoyed king cake and mock hurricanes prepared by Tena Carrigan and Amy Rebick.
Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday")--the day before Ash Wednesday, is a celebration held just before the beginning of the season of Lent. Many communities in the southern region of the United States, most notably New Orleans, celebrate Mardi Gras.
Mark your calendar for next year's Pulaski Tech Mardi Gras parade and celebration on Feb. 20, 2007. For more information, contact Amy Rebick in the Public Relations and Marketing office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
