Big Rock Reading Series to host poet, fiction writer

Pulaski Technical College concludes its 2013 Big Rock Reading Series with readings on Nov. 15 by poet Diana Reaves and fiction writer William Pittam, both Master of Fine Arts candidates at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Readings will begin at 10 a.m. in the RJ Wills Lecture Hall in the Campus Center, located on the college's main campus in North Little Rock. After the readings, there will be a question-and-answer with the authors. The event is free and open to the public.

Reaves grew up in southern Alabama and now lives in Fayetteville, where she is the 2013 Walton Fellow in Poetry and the 2013 Lily Peter Fellow in Poetry at the University of Arkansas. She writes about the loss of loved ones, the loss of belief in those we love, and also about the enduring and sometimes fragile connections between family and friends.  Her poems have appeared in Tar River Poetry, Boxcar Poetry Review, and The 2River View.

William Pittam, of Staffordshire, England, is in the third year of his MFA at the University of Arkansas and is a recipient of the Walton and Lily Peter Fellowships for Fiction. His short stories, set in the United Kingdom, take the form of family or marital drama and explore philosophical themes, such as beliefs and the rituals that form them.
