Former Heifer CEO to headline PTC black history banquet

Charles Stewart, a former interim chief executive officer for Heifer International, will be the keynote speaker at Pulaski Technical College's 11th annual Black History banquet on Friday, Feb. 24.

The banquet begins at 6 p.m. in the college's Campus Center Grand Hall. Tickets cost $12.50 per person and can be purchased in advance by contacting Dianne Butler at (501) 812-2284 or dbutler@pulaskitech.edu.

This theme of this year's Black History banquet is "The Power of Choice." Other highlights include the presentation of the college's annual Diversity Award.

In addition to serving as interim chief executive officer for Heifer for most of 2010, Stewart currently serves as a member of the board and the executive committee. He is retired from Regions Bank, where he directed community development and community investment activities. He is a founding board member and chair of the Little Rock Preparatory Academy, an open enrollment public charter school, and co-founder and chair of the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation Inc.

He has served on many state and federal boards, including the Arkansas State Police Commission, Federal Small Business Advisory Council, Arkansas Interest on Lawyer's Trust Accounts Foundation, Arkansas Repertory Theatre and an advisory board of the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C.
